The Joy of Pinterest and Indiana Weather

Half way through our baking madness!
Oh Indiana weather, how art thou? I'll tell you. Sucky. Yep. It's absolutely disgusting outside. Last night we got slammed with the Icecapades. And who wants to travel in that mess? Not me...or my sister. So last night we decided to have It'sSnowingSleetingWeDon'tWantToGoOut Baking Madness 2013! So with our mad baking skills, and the help of Pinterest, we had an Irish themed baking night.



 


First up- Bailey's Irish Cream Cupcakes! It was all Hailey on this recipe. But I was the official taste tester. And I have to say they turned out pretty good! We couldn't taste the Bailey's too much after they had baked, so if you really want the flavor don't be afraid to add more! You can find the recipe here! Of course, ours look pretty different than the pictures. We used an almond frosting and added a little bit of Irish Cream to it. Made the frosting pretty messy...but still yummy!

Next- Honey Beer Bread. Mmmmmm. Bread. Who doesn't love bread? But  here's the funny part about this recipe, we left out the honey. So it's just beer bread, yay! But we did use Leinenkuge's Lemon Berry Shandy as our beer of choice. Click here for the recipe.


Last, but not least- Scottish Shortbread Cookies! When I visited Ireland, this was my cookie of choice. I could not get enough shortbread. It's a pretty easy recipe. And you can bet your bottom dollar that..well not tomorrow...but soon I'll make this recipe again! It may not look too pretty, but as you could tell we had already enjoyed a few. So delicious. I'm actually thinking about how I could eat that entire pan right now. Want to try it out the recipe for yourself? Here ya go!

My Creativity Has Returned!

Note to self- whenever I want to accomplish something, post about it on my blog. I have finally accomplished some scrapbooking AND some wedding planning. Look at me go! It just took a little bit of guilt from posting about it...and TA-DA! So where to begin? I've accomplished so much. Ok, well really not a lot...but compared to the last 2 months it's A LOT. Let's start with some scrapbooking shall we? But not right away. First we need to admire my lovely salsa I canned this weekend. Yes. I also canned salsa this week. No big deal. I received an e-mail from my dad asking if I was coming home. It was followed by CANNING IS FUN! I NEED YOUR HELP. He must have been desperate. And I knew I would get to keep some for myself so I figured why not? So let's take a minute to admire all of those tomatoes I juiced, the peppers, jalapenos and onions I cut (and shed tears for), and the minutes I spent over the warm stove stirring this deliciousness. I DID IT! Last PL 2013 Post

Whew. I did it. I can check one of my 2014 goals off the list. I finished my 2013 Project Life album. Like always, I started out strong. Then towards the end I lost momentum. I just wanted to be done. Maybe I'll go back and add more to the pages, change them up a bit. But for now it's finished. And I'm happy. week of November 10-16- I'm sure you noticed my lovely eye picture- sorry about that. But this week was more about pictures, and less about journaling. I used cards from WRMK for this page. The "notes" journaling paper at the top is from the $1 bins at Target- what a find! week of November 17- 23 - More eye pictures...sorry (or am I?!). This week we celebrated Thanksgiving with Brandon's family since we were going to be in Hawaii the next week. Like usual, I forgot to take pictures at Thanksgiving. One day I'll take a pictures...one day. How cute are those little turkey and fox stickers?! Thank you Michaels $1 sticker books :) w
